Fished this tank today with my son.  Water temp was 87 on the surface.  Water is stained and weeds are not a problem.  Most of this tank is in the 4-5’ range, with the deep spots on the back side showing 6-8’.  Fishing was slow as expected, but we caught bass on texas-rigged lizards, roadrunners and 4” swimbaits.  Bass were fat and looked very healthy - no lunkers today, but most were in the 16-18” range.  This site has good bank access, but the grass is pretty high around the tank right now - take some snake boots if not using a boat.

I visited this lake yesterday for the first time. It is about 4 acres and would be good for bank fishing as you can access almost the entire lake without a boat. I fished for only an hour and 1/2. Caught no fish on Senkos, Swimbaits, spinnerbaits, creature baits. Put on a rattletrap and caught 8 in 20 minutes. The health of the fish was good (no skinny fish). However, all fish were a bit smaller than I like at 14-15”. The water is a bit turbid, from the cattle, but the fish are in there. It would be a bit unusual to have a lake this size (small) and this shallow to have shad. But, the fish were chasing shad and the rattletrap is what they wanted. I think I could have caught a lot more, if I had stayed.

I have fished this location several times since I joined the North Texas Bass Club in 2001 and have always done well. Island of Ennis does not get a lot of press nor is it the most scenic PWF property but it fishes well and is fairly close to DFW. As Steve mentioned, rattletraps work well at this location.
A good double header is to fish Ennis 1/2 day and Triple J the other 1/2 day since both locations are fairly close together.
