My dad and I had a great time fishing the Twin Lakes in Ben Wheeler. We started on the West Lake, and were on the water by 5:45am, but didn’t catch much other than dinks the first hour. However, by the 2nd hour we finally figured out how aggressive the larger fish were towards buzz baits. We each fished white buzz baits and caught several in the 2-5lb range. The interesting thing is that we were catching the larger fish in the middle of the lake, not along the shoreline. It seemed odd casting a buzz bait in the middle of the lake, but that is where they were nailing it. We took a break from fishing the West Lake around lunchtime and went over to the East Lake. We caught 1 dink in an hour of fishing on the East Lake, and quickly decided the West Lake was where the action was. Continued fishing the West Lake and caught more in the 2lb+ range. Great time - caught 50 total bass between us, and the majority were 2lb and above. Most larger fish were caught on buzz baits, but we also caught several on baby brush hogs (watermelon with red/black flake) and senkos. Great time, and I’m looking forward to fishing it again!
