Seth and I had a chance to fish Heartland for 4 hours Friday morning and the lake is in the best shape since joining the PWF family of lakes. About 50% of the lake is now fishable up from 25% last year.
An airboat was brought in last week to knock over about 5 acres of trees about midway down the lake on the north side. The lily pads were also eradicated in this area and it made for some great action. It is still difficult to navigate your way back to the spot, but the rewards are great.  Take your time and do not tear up the trolling motor.
We caught 42 fish in 4 hours and the bite was steady when we got off the lake at 10:00 AM. Most fish were caught on plastics, both t-rig and wacky. The big fish eluded us, but 10 fish an hour made for steady action.
On our way out I sent a text to Craig and he and a friend had just finished fishing Leaky Lake and he sent a picture of a 10.2 lb fish they had caught that morning.
