Member Brian Long and I did a Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning at Yates Place.  This is one of the most beautiful places on earth!  The Yates' continue to go out of their way to make it a special place and Sassy Bear was just as sassy as ever.  Let's get to the fishing…...  We started the trip by marking the main creek channel with buoys.  We had five out to mark the creek bends so we could fish from marker to marker to try and find a big girl down in deep water on that main channel.  We were marking plenty of fish down there but having trouble getting them to bite.  I think one of the issues is that there is bait EVERYWHERE.  The shad spawn has been over the top at Yates Place and smaller fish were pushing bait all over the lake.  We caught the most fish on crank baits but our biggest fish came on soft plastics out of deep brush piles.  We caught 39 bass and culled 22 that were under sixteen inches.  It was one of those trips where you just have that grin driving home.  We had one fish over 8, two over 6, three over 5 and plenty of other HARD fighting, really healthy bass.
