Fished the AM with a good friend and his son who is absolutely ate up about fishing. He is on the fence about becoming a member. I work him pretty hard every chance I get! Got on the water about 7:15, it was really milky and visibility was less than a foot. Changed my depth finder to shoot thru the hull, so didn't get a really accurate water temp. Still appeared to be about 3' low, but no issues using the ramp. We hammered the lake pretty hard with cranks and spinner baits without much luck for the the first couple hours. Started jigging around the brush piles and coaxing the crappie out of the sticks. Showed the 9-year old how to jig and determine the difference between a crappie and a stick. Once he got the hang of it, we just sat back and watched him squeal each time he pulled one into the boat. Fish were in about 5-6' of water pretty consistently. Of course I had to show off and haul in a 5 lb. bass on a crawfish crankbait. Got off the water about 11:45 with 22 crappie between the three of us, nothing of any real size. Caught and released a half-dozen bass. Nice property. Had lunch at a Mexican joint in Celina. Cold Shiner Bock and some really good brisket tacos made it nearly a perfect outing.

Michael,
Thank you for teaching a youngster to fish. Sometimes we have no idea the impact we can make. My father was not a fisherman, but my next door neighbor had 3 boys, none of whom liked to fish, so he took me. 30 years later I bought Private Water Fishing. If it had not been for my Neighbor Jim Jacobs who knows?
