Fished Timber Lake on Sunday. I’m usually on the water 45 minutes before sunup this time of year. But Saturday was my wife’s birthday and we were out late, so I did not get to the lake until early afternoon. Fished from 1:30PM to about 7:30PM and caught I think 45 fish. Had a tough time figuring them out for the first couple of hours, but at about 4PM started catching them on jigs and white spinnerbaits on the submerged tree lines closest to deep water. The tree lines just off the “point” between the two creeks really produced some nice fish in the late afternoon. Of the fish I caught, not a single one was a dink, most were in the 2-4lb range with a couple up around 5lbs or so. Even the small fish in this pond are solid and very strong.
Also had another nice visit with John the landowner, who as always gave me a good update on the management and results from the lake. With this kind of management, and given the depth and structure in the pond, this site will only get better in the years to come.
A nice bonus: there are large birds nesting above the creek channel opposite the launch. I did not get close enough to be sure but think they are yellow crowned night herons. Anyway, Momma bird flew in while I was jigging the tree line and spent a couple of minutes feeding her hungry kids. Quite a racket and very entertaining ... reminded me of my kids eating at about that age.

Jon,
I fished Timber Lake as well about 1-1.5 weeks ago and had the same exact fortune and caught them in that deep slough you are talking about in between the 2 creeks and in the creeks—-a great lake that is going to be one of the best in the club in 1-2 years I know. Good Fishing!
