Fishing partner Bill Morris caught his 2nd largest largemouth of the year yesterday at Black Hat, a 5.8 fighter that required a net in the lily pads.  Caught several 1s, 2s, and 3s for total of 14 bass and one crappie. Had 9 or 10 break off in the pads.  Very difficult fishing.    Lake is low and most fish congregated in the pads where we fished most of the day.  Morning was bluebird skies, afternoon cloudy with a front approaching.  Wind 5-10 mph, water temp 66-68.  Great lake to fish, but needs some structure.  Pleased to hear that PWF is going to install some brush piles, which should coax the bass out of the pads.  We'll definitely return in the spring.

What a chunk!  The water clarity seems to have changed and that fish looks like it has a nice color to it.  Very healthy bass….  congrats to your friend.

Brush piles were suppose to go in this week. With the threat of rain cheeky we have postponed until next week. Predicting 2 inches; lets hope we get 5!.

One of my patients is a full time fishing guide for over 18 years now on Fork, Rayburn, or any east Texas lake for that matter.  I helped him put some brush piles out recently and he taught me a lot about the angle at which you place them in relation to the angle you want to fish them to avoid hang ups, what depths to target, etc, but the most important question I had was WHEN will the brush piles begin holding fish?  His answer…..   Almost immediately.  So….  Eager to see if we can get some of those bass out of those pads.  That one tree on its side that isn't far from the pads had one fish on every few hours.

Brushpiles are in place as of 12-9. I got 2 fish off of them, but 15 came from open water about mid-lake. Must've been a school there.
