We had some beautiful weather in Marshall this past weekend.  Tommy and Michelle took excellent care of us and were perfect hosts.  The fishing was a bit slower than we hoped but it was high blue bird skies and water around fifty five degrees.  Leaky Lake was tougher than Home Place with only a few bass being caught on Saturday morning.  We made it over to Home Place for the afternoon reservation and had better success fishing the creek channel and down around the dam.  We ended the weekend with around 45 fish between the four of us so there were some long runs of no bites.  Of course the bites we did get were solid.  Tommy does such an excellent job of keeping these fish fat and happy and the lakes in great shape.  Those boats are so roomy to fish out of it will spoil you.

I escaped with our big bass pot with a 6lb 1oz beauty and had another couple of nice five pounders .  Everyone caught fish so it made for smiles at the dinner table.  The beauty of Heartland is that you never know when you could catch a real toad.

We threw the tackle box at Leaky…..  Plastics of all varieties, shakey heads, Texas rigged and Carolina.  We used flutter spoons, Bama rigs, hard and soft jerk baits, some top water  and a few cranks.  Deep diving crank caught the biggest fish at Leaky and of course Home Place you are really limited on what you can throw and a Senko caught the 6.1.

It was a fantastic weekend to get away with the guys and spend some quiet time out on their beautiful lakes.  Planning our next trip already.

Tight Lines,

Jackson
