Waited for the rains to quit at the house so got on Lakeside about 8:00 am. Ducks had the two coves covered up. Must have been 50 or more. Since not a duck hunter not sure but think most were mallards. Had good action till mid morning catching 8 to 10 over 14" on Rattle trap. Winds poicked up bby lunch and made fishing a little tougher but the bite slowed as well. Decided to try and catch some crappie but all that would bite the jig was bass - largest about 6#. Ended day with 15 released and four to take home. One harvest fish had a 3-4 inch crappie in stomach that was still pretty much intact. Water temp started at 55 but got to 58 by mid afternoon.

I like that place, some really big fish…......but the last time I was there it was choked with substantial weed growth making lure presentation "difficult". Has the cold opened the lake by reducing the weed beds?
