My wife and I fished fished Bennett lake on July 4th from dawn to dark. Caught most fish on Black Buzz Bait but the Pop R was the bait of the day. Caught around 20 over 14 and 4 in the 3-5 Ibs. range. Harvested 8. Only activity on the worm was my wife’s first cast to shore early evening and biggest fish of the day came all the way to the boat, showed us his big mouth as he was spitting the pumpkin seed worm back at her. Had several big blowups right at the boat. Fish would follow the buzz bait right to the boat. We know there are at least two very large bass in there.
The morning started out fast on top water until the rain came. The lake has a nice boat with covered slip where we waited out the rain. We spent time on the deck during the middle of the day. Very HOT! The evening was slow until right at dark and we both caught 4-5 in last hour on buzz bait.
The lake is very nice with major structure around the shore line. Full day is too long this time of year.
