Slot Fish
Son and I fished in long sleeve T-shirts on a sunny Sunday afternoon on February 8th with temps in the mid 70’s and little wind – not bad for first week of February. Ranch road in has some pretty good ruts and muddy parts, however I didn't use 4 wheel drive. Water temp ranged from 52 to 56 during the day, water is gin clear. Lake is up from end of November and launch is not a problem, bank is muddy but mud boots do the trick. We we’re able to use the trolling motor all the way out on a two man bass buster. Unfortunately, the fish didn’t appreciate the weather as much as we did. We could not find them or entice them to bite. Must be still hibernating. Caught four bass and one crappie. Fish faught hard for a short time and then gave up probably because of the cold water, seemed to be healthy. Son did catch biggest of the day on fly rod that went 3 lbs. It was good to get out and enjoy being with my son. Sunset pics is from previous trip, there were no clouds in the sky on this trip.
