At risk of losing vacation days, my wife suggested that we go to a PW property. Pretty awesome suggestion from a Hilton Girl! I pulled the gear out of storage and headed out between the deep freezes on my first excursion to Yates Place, and fished a half day on Tuesday and a few hours on Wed, and spent a good bit of time exploring this fine property. Here is the catch of the trip for me, a 9LB tugboat and a pick of my new friend Sassy, DeWayne and Kay's dog. all I can say is, don't miss a trip to this place…There are Hogs in there, and It is stunning on every level!!! - Greg

What a lunker!  Thanks for the great pic, Greg….and thanks for holding the big momma properly so she can be released without breaking her jaw and dooming her.

Greg,

What did you catch her on?  And what was the depth?  Curious about all the details - I'm going there this Friday!

My biggest club lake fish came out of Yates on a spinnerbait during a trial fish in January in the first 45 minues I was on the lake. Yes, a spinnerbait in January!. I had thrown a trap for 30 minues with no luck, and I wanted to cover water quickly, so I threw a spinnerbait. 15 minutes later in 4 foot of water on the main lake point I met one of the loves of my life! I caught a half dozen other fish in the 3 to 6 lb range and knew this lake was special. Pre spawn and Yates; it does not get any better.

Zach, stay on the brush pile near the island. The brush pile is huge and easy to find. Fish it for an hour, move off and come back to it at least 2 or 3 times during the day. The odds of a big one go way up.

Thanks Steve!  I caught a 7-12 last year right off the island using a Rat-L-Trap.  Interesting about the spinnerbait; I've never thrown one at Yates.  I've caught a 5lber on a chatterbait back in the timber, but never even tied on a spinnerbait.  Hmmm…

Zach and all'

Very sorry for the late reply, I have had a rudder stuck on work since I got back…......

I caught the big one one a jig. I caught a few nice fish on senkos and flukes as well on the cabin side and the dam side. I figured fish would move from the middle of the lake to the cuts, but with the changing weather I did not see a difinative pattern. Fish the sticks and logs is my best advice.

Go get one !
