Fingerling
I have reorganized my tackle box this past week (which I greatly enjoy), and put new line on all of my reels. Ready for Hat and Star this weekend. Was anxious to get out and Weston is only about 15 minutes from my home so I fished yesterday afternoon for a few hours. Was a perfect day to fish, cloudy and a light breeze but not windy. The lake is as full as I have seen it. Got on the water about 2:00 and fished until about 6:00. Started off with a spinner bait and caught one dink right away along the dam. Then nothing. Switched to a Rattle Trap and nothing. Worked my way to the side opposite the boat launch and there is a small cove with some timber, threw in a Texas Rigged Lizard and bam, set the hook on what felt like a really nice fish in probably 3-4 foot of water…....she ran straight into the timber stick ups. I could feel her still on the line for about 30 seconds as I manuerverd my boat to try and free her, but no luck. She was gone, and I ended up having to break off my rig.
The rest of the afternoon was spent working the various marked brush piles. I did catch maybe the biggest Crappie I have ever caught off a brush pile in the middle of the lake. Took the same Texas Rigged Lizard, which is a first for me. Felt like a bass when I set the hook. Don't know why I didn't weigh it or measure the length before I released it. Other than that while I did miss a few bumps fishing a weightless Senko, I only caught 2 more fish. A nice 4.2 and a 2.5. Both came from the same area along the opposite bank where the small cove is. There are some brush piles over there as well.

Marty,
Steve and I shocked Weston with our new shock boat on Monday, and we shocked up 6 fish over 5 lbs, with an 8 being the biggest. This was great to see, as it shows us that there are plenty of big fish in the lake. I am not suprised to hear that you had a good one on. Most of the big fish were shocked up out of the marked brush piles in the middle of the lake, or along the west bank. We also shocked up lots of Crappie and big Redear Sunfish. Steve and I both agreed that there are more big Redear in SW Lake than we have seen in any other lake that we have shocked.
Thanks,
Seth, PWF
