Arrived at lake , directions are perfect. Was a chilly blue bird morning, I threw everything i had at them and no bites, couple nibbles. Beautiful place and lake is full, guess the cold front that came through on Thursday, still had the fish on lockjaw.
Enjoyed myself even though i didn’t catch anything. I am not the greatest fisherman. Did meet up with the owners. Really gracious folks and went out of their way to accommodate me. Even telling me where to fish and what colors. Awesome property and will be back. Lake was warming up, but i got called back in to work and had to shorten my trip earlier than i wish. Betcha i would have caught some fish that afternoon.

Hey, Chris. Sorry to hear you had a tough outing at Melody, that's one of my favorite lakes despite being a 2 1/2 hour drive!
Cold fronts are never good news, but even then I can usually coax a few bites with a small lure. My fave there is a 4 inch, 1/32 oz jigworm. Obviously the downside is that I must use 4 lb test & ultralight gear to cast, but Melody bass tend to prefer smaller, quieter lures in my experience. Baits that make a lot of noise and splash do work at times, especially when it is hot, but are less consistent.
Give it a couple weeks of warm weather and I bet you'll have better luck. The shallow bay area past the old submerged dam is usually good in spring before the weeds make it tough to fish. Also, of course, the brush piles are home to fish—and to snags!
