My son and I headed east to Caresend Lake with high hopes after reading so much about this lake. Got on the water about 7:30 and begin our hunt for BIG BASS in what appeared to be a giant muddy stock pond for the ranch herd. DO NOT concern yourself with the water color because on every point in every moss bed largemouth bass are waiting for your lure. I mean LARGE mouth. Biggest fish was a nice 8 pounder, we had a couple 7's a dozen over 5 and all except 12 that we harvested were over the 16 inch slot and mad about coming to the boat. With no map or fish finder we took the advice off of the report web and hit the points. Not much to look at as points go but that's where we found fish. The point directly across from the boat launch produced over fifteen above the slot. I must report that we failed to boat another 8 large fish that took to the weeds and cover once hooked. Oh what a great place to fish. We ended the day with over 60 total fish, threw a bunch of stuff at em but a pumpkin red senko was the magic bait.

Great fish, Paul.  But I have a question: Aren't the new fishing structures at Broseco marked?   Or maybe they are, but the fish aren't using them much yet?

Yes they are marked very well and with the lake full you would think that the fish would be in them and may be. We had such good luck throwing the senko to the edge of the grass and moss beds that I ignored them. Off of one point we took 15 fish from 3-7 lbs, look no further right. We did beat the banks a little and took three or four over 4 lbs and most of the under 16 inch fish that way. Son Matt lost the big fish of the day on the bank just 200 yards from the small cove where the boats are docked. Hope you get a chance to go out there, I am ready to return.
