My dad, 2 brothers and my nephew converged on the beautiful Hidden Springs Ranch in Laneville for a family fishing outing.  The Laneville property is really beautiful and really convenient to fish.  We had a great time.

The weather was all over the place with intermittent rain, occasional heavy winds, some blue sky, mostly cloudy.  The air temps were in the mid 70s for the most part and the water temperature was 82 degrees.  the water was predictably muddy after non-stop rains.

We had a great time of fellowship and fun and enjoyed just being together.  The cabins' are perfect for our family, very well laid out and plenty of space to move around.

We caught 226 mostly small bass with 181 of those being 12" or less.  We did have a few nicer fish mixed in.

Bruce. Great report. Headed there late next week. What type lures worked best and where were the bass?

Unlike last year, there was no real pattern and we had to work to catch the fish we caught.  Bigger fish were caught dead sticking zoom trick worms or lightly weighted rage crawfish.  topwater bite was NOT on.  small spinnerbaits and grubs fished at medium speeds caught fair numbers.  The fish were definitely not aggressive and slow presentations did best.  Fish were all over the place.  Back of the two main coves were probably best spots but we found no real pattern to placement or presentation except the slower the better.
