Fished Ferris Triple J 7/29 in the AM - on the water about 6:15 (the boat is a nice addition) not much luck on topwater, a couple of pokes at a buzzbait but had the best luck fishing a weightless bass assassin.  Caught about 15 total, 10 under the 16” limit, kept cleaned and grilled for supper this evening.  All looked healthy with the exception of one that was very skinny.  None of the fish were bigger than 2.5 lbs.  Saw quite a few baitfish and bass chasing them but couldn’t find them wadded up anywhere.  Tried a crankbait, rattletrap and diving stickbait in deeper water with no luck.  Caught the bigger fish on a Texas Rig worm on the outer edges of the moss.
I also enjoyed seeing the old Texas shaped swimming pool.

Sandy,

Is there a lot of plant growth in this location? I know during past summers excess plant growth has been a problem here.

Jim - No, it was not a problem.  There was some as you would expect close to the bank growing maybe 3-5 feet out but stopped abruptly which made for some of the better fishing. There appeared to be a good bloom in the water to keep it stained and thus the weeds under control.  In the deeper water I tried a medium and deeper diving crankbait with no problems.

We have fertilized the lake this year. The bloom has stayed most of the year. The fertilization has kept the water visbility less than 2 feet. Limiting the sunlight pentration and the addition of 130 lbs of tilapia has made a huge difference this year.
