My wife Laura and I stayed Friday night the 28th for our anniversary. Got to lake around 4:30 or so and after unloading got on water for about an hour before getting out and relaxing for a little while. Had a couple fish in that time lost at boat.
Went back out at 6:00 and started from dam toward the lily pads. The whole shallow end is covered with them. Caught a couple of nice 2 to 3 # fish and they fought like they were bigger, had a couple more jump the hook before getting into the lily pads area. Right before dark I threw a buzz bait up into a little clear area and it was destroyed by a huge blow up. It was stuck in weeds for a bit and I thought I lost it when I started reeling it back to boat. Fish was swimming with it towards me and then it just stopped and doubled my rod over. it jumped once and then I was able to get to boat. It was dark and my boga grips weren't the easiest thing to read with no light. With glasses on I could see the number 8 on the grip so it went over 8#. A really nice fish with huge head in comparison with the body. I will send picture, even got it on video.
After that it was time to stop, got dark and we were finished for the night.
The cabin is really nice and in great shape. perfect for my wife to enjoy.
Got up the next morning and it was light, over slept, clock said after 7 am. Really wanted to get out there before daybreak but didn't make it. Finally got out to boat and the battery was dead. I should have brought my battery charger, will next time. ended upo walking to the area with lily pads to left of house and went to area of open water in middle of them that I saw from boat the evening before but couldn't get to it. threw around 10 cast in area with no activity but on the 11th cast the frog I was throwing was destroyed again After pulling it thru the lily pads I bought in a real nice 6+# to the bank. Got some nice pictures with it also. Both big fish were great, wish my wife would have caught them instead of me but maybe next time. She did catch a nice 3+ fish and got a great video of that.
This is a great place to stay and next time we will make a 2 nighter out of it.
The boat was kinda small for 2 people and I was very cramped in the back but it did its job.
We did have company at the cabin, above the door there was a banana spider common to the woods. It was at least 2 to 3" big but it was neat and kept us company.
Ended up with over 10 fish with the 3 smallest jumping the hook. No keepers and all other fish were very healthy.
