Shutout on Clymer lake

I just joined last week and was eager to get to fishing.  Clymer was available last minute and close to home. I loaded the kayak and was off. The moss level was really high and I struggled to keep a clean line. Some of this could be blamed on angler inexperience in that type of fishing setting too. It was still fun to get the kayak out on the lake. I also left my paddle in the mud.  Rookie blues huh? I’m gonna try get out to Van Alstyne next week.

Clymer is a nice lake in the spring and later fall when the grass / coontail has not taken over - It would be hard from a kayak when you are sitting at water level and can't see the pockets of casting lanes very easy.  I have caught some really nice bass and crappie out there over the years.  Welcome to the club - Tons of great lakes to tryout.

Terry. I also use a kayak. I have a Predator XL with the Minn Kota trolling motor from Old Town Kayak and Canoe. What do you have)

I have a basic fishing model for Cabelas. I can't remember the name right off the top of my head. It's my first kayak and was my first time using it.  If I enjoy it; I will upgrade.  I almost went with the predator from Old Town though, but decided to go basic since new to the club and kayaking

Terry,

Leonard Clymer is a tough lake, especially in the Fall. We should have had you start on a different lake. Sorry we did not catch that. Moreover, it has the most difficult access of any club lake.

At this stage, the lake is a better duck lake than fishing lake, although we have some really strong fishing reports once in awhile. Some members have some really fond memories out there.

Terry. Welcome to the club. If you have any questions about kayak fishing, I have been using a kayak for about 4 years.

Steve,

Thanks for the reply. Next time I will be better prepared; I have no doubt the lake will produce.
