It was my first time to fish 9G and I really enjoyed the property. It started off slow. I had only two fish by 10:00. I am a hard-headed plastics fisherman and the fish were giving me a lesson. I tried Senkos, Brush Hawgs, worms and lizards - wacky, Carolina and Texas-rigged. I threw a spinner here and there but at 10:00 I just knew the weather that had come in the day before had stopped the bite- it couldn’t be me.
I switched over to a crawfish- colored rattle trap recalling fast in 3-4 ft of water over weeds. The first fish I picked up with it was a 5.7 pounder and the biggest of the day. I ended at 4:00 PM with 21 fish. All but 5 were over two pounds and fought hard.
At one point I caught 3 on back to back casts. The last 19 were all caught on the same bait in the same type of area.
The water was around 64 degrees with about 12” of visibility.

Thanks for the good report Chris. Good reminder to understand that it is not just about finding the fish, but finding the type of bait that will turn on the bite. What a great day!
