Fingerling
I fished Grapeland Bennett on November 4th and 5th with my brothers. It's been awhile since I've fished this lake so I really excited to get back to fishing this lake again.
we fished from my boat and the Jon boat that was there for $15.00 a day which was in good shape.
We started out fishing at 9:00 am under cloudy conditions with very little wind. Temperature was in the mid 60 ' s
We caught 30 crappie using jigs which was about 20 pounds. They where some very nice slabs. Which we gladly harvested
After telling my brother, on any cast you can hook into a big one. On the very next cast, I did exactly that. I was using a dark green rage tail frog running it over the matted grass when it sounded like someone dropped a bowling ball in the water. I instantly told my brother to get the net. This fish was a 10 lb beauty that was full of fight. I was wrapped up around 2 stumps once free from the stump the fish went straight under the boat and around the trolling motor and the down into the hay like grass that gives trolling motors a fit. Finally after a few tense minutes I was able to drag her into the net which she barely fit. This fish was huge and was set free unharmed to be caught another day.
We also caught three 4 pound bass and a few dinks which were all released. We also tried to catch some of the large catfish but was not successful. My brother only caught and released one catfish that was about 5 pounds.
We had a great 2 days of fishing before the storms rolled in. Once again, Grapeland Bennett provided my brother's and I with life long memories that we will always cherish.
Thanks again Renee for being and awesome host. We will return.
