I fished the morning of 11/14/15 at Black Hat. Got started about 8 am. Beautiful with a little sun and no wind. i worked a popper around from the launch to the first brush pile near the dam. On the second cast with a TX-rigged worm, I hooked into a fish, and it was a decent crappie! My wife loves those. So I tried a small square-bill crankbait over the brush pile and proceeded to catch about 10 nice crappie from 11-15 inches. Spent most of the morning going from marker to marker, and caught crappie off of nearly all the brushpiles. Fun—huge fish and really fought hard.
Bass? I didn't get a bite on crank or TX rig or spinner. i did catch 6 from dink to about 2.5 lbs (nice fish!) on a black senko near the banks, and lost a bigger one when i screwed around and let it get the line in the trolling motor prop. Swung and missed on about 6 more. I think I need a bigger hook on the senko. 3/0 loses too many.
Oddly, didn't see a single catfish, after catching them on about everything I threw last time. Must have been the cool weather.
And then the winds came and I packed it in. But Black Hat has now moved up my list of go-to lakes, especially for crappie!
Tight lines!

Hey James I fished out there today and caught 10 nice crappie myself. I caught mine on square bills like you did. I even caught a crappie on a KVD 8.0 square Bill if you can believe that. Also caught some on a pit boss had numerous strikes around brushpiles. I thought myself that was bizarre to catch all those crappie while bass fishing
