Three of us fished from dawn until 12:00 noon today (December 9). We started off throwing top water, mostly hollow body frogs. There was a lot of thrashing and near misses but no fish were actually landed. Small bill crank baits worked reasonably well, but greatest success was with plastic worms. Watermelon red seemed the best color, rigged wacky or Texas. The fish were scattered all around the lake, we didn’t find a major hotspot today.

After 4-1/2 hours fishing, total catch 34 bass (8 kept, 26 released). Largest one was about 5 pounds, lots of three and four pounders caught and released.

The weather was totally beautiful, which didn’t help the fishing (lots of sunshine, smooth water). But what a great way to spend the morning!
