Took a guest to Broseco with intentions of fishing Sunday afternoon, December 13th and all day on the 14th. We knew we would be fishing in the rain on Sunday but had no idea how much rain east Texas received Saturday night. The dock at Broseco was underwater by a few inches. My mud caked boots reminded me again what it means to be water resistant versus water proof as I walked on to the dock and got soaked feet. Also started out with wet sleeves from trying to fish my iPhone 6s from the lake - which escaped my grasp while trying to move everything in to the boat in one trip. So, cold and wet and muddy we fished the rain and wind until dark and caught a few small fish. It was brutal all around. I convinced my guest to cancel Monday and move it to Wednesday instead which would allow me to get some dry clothes and a new phone and come at this fresh.
Compared to historic numbers and activity at Broseco, December the 16th was slow. We managed to catch nine fish all day. But it was sunny and dry and we did get a couple of big fish including a 10.11 Rest of the fish were 7.5, 5.44, 5.22, 5.02, 4.71, 4.55 and a couple we didn't weigh but were in the 3-4 lb class.
It is still so shocking to hook and fight and hold a big fish like that. Real fun and excitement. Mostly forgot about the wet and cold and mud and lost iPhone. Now I just find myself anxious to get back. Broseco is a great lake with first class boats, dock, lifts, trolling motors etc. Really a treat to go there.
