Fished Neill's Ranch on Sunday, Feb 7th from 9am-6pm.  Day started off in the 30s with frost and fog, but sun came out and warmed into the low 60s.  WT was 51-53 and clear with that classic East Texas tea color.  We launched our little Pond Prowler and used the fish finder to look for deep structure, and there was plenty of it.  There are brush piles and submerged trees all over the lake, deep and shallow.  We fished slow with black/blue jigs and creature baits right in the deep structure.  We missed a lot of hook sets, but boated a dozen.  We also caught a couple with deep diving cranks.  Pictured is the biggest of the day caught on a brush hog.  Fish were healthy and fought hard.  Looks like a few full of eggs.  We tried to fish with crappie jigs to catch some dinner, but didn't even get sniff from a sac-a-lait!  We only caught 4 bass under the 14" limit for harvest.  Beautiful property and will be back when it warms up a bit.

What a stud (studette?) Neil!  Good for you for fishing the season you are in.

I got a chuckle from your crappie comment.  I have a few coonass friends that spoke of sac-a-lait for years before I realized what they were talking about.

I was on another lake and my fingers were frozen until that sun got up about 9 am.

Great job on a cold day.
