Fished Leon with my Step Father Tuesday. We arrived before dawn looking for some topwater action. As soon as the sun started to rise, we were throwing buzzbaits and scum frogs by the numerous pads. Picked up few fish quick and then things slowed down so we tried other methods. Could not find a consistent pattern. We would catch one or two on rattle traps, spinner baits, plastics, topwater stuff but the bites were hard to come by. All that being said, I did catch my largest Bass to date, 9lbs, on a buzzbait at 10am. A real beauty. The lake is spectacular. Water was a little dirty from the rain a day before which could have something to do with only boating 13 fish. Last time we boated over 40 fish… Second biggest was 4.5lbs and the rest all between 2-3. No dinks. There is also an Alligator there. He was curious, and showed interest in the top water frog, but nothing to be concerned about. A real treat to get that close to such a beautiful animal. I love this Lake, the beautiful setting, the feeling of really being in the wilderness and look forward to going back.

Great Fish. This is one of the bigger fish reported this year, and I beleive the biggest reported from Oakwood Lake Leon this year. This lake has had less than a dozen reservations the entire summer and is ripe.
