Toad
Fished today from 7:10 a.m. until 2:20 p.m. Fought the wind the entire time. Only caught 3 small (13-14") bass and one crappie all day. Had no other hits that I know of. Two of the bass fell for an old (1970s vintage) 3/8 oz. Bass Buster Scorpion with a white/blue skirt and a size 7 nickel Colorado blade. Strangely, so did the crappie. The other bass hit a black/blue fleck, weightless, wacky-rigged 5" Senko in about 15" of water. All of the fish were on the west side of the lake. With yesterday's norther, the water temp was back in the mid-50s with visibility of less than 12". The lake level high - still water going into the spillway, and I found only 3 of the brushpile markers visible above the surface. I had no luck with creature baits, Roadrunners, soft swim baits, topwater, jerk baits, jigs, C-rigs, flukes, or plastic worms. Sorry, y'all, but I can be no help to anyone this week for lure or fishing recommendations. For me, this Spring Break has been a real dud because of the weather. I should have gone on the cruise with my wife and her family….....Nah. Glad I stayed home and at least tried for that 'big girl.' I still want the grandmother of the one Marty caught last week.
Steve, I forgot to put into my harvest report that I almost got a hernia trying to open the lower gate. One side is harder to move than a Dallas Cowboys blocking sled.
