Fry
Fished on 4/1 with Guest Blake Anderson. Stayed in Mt P the night before. Cold front came in that evening and AM temps were around 40-50 with winds howling out of the N at 25+ in the AM. I tried to time the weather with no avail! Am was tough picked up a few fish only till around 12. Then rain came, but not too bad and it did slow down the wind. After 1:30 it became 0-10 wind and sun broke, so it was very nice most of the afternoon. But unfortunately the fishing did not pick up tremendously as we still continued to just pick up 1-2 fish per hour. Due to what we knew the potential was we fished it very hard…6:50 am to 7:50 pm with only a Sandwich on the boat! We tried mainly soft plastics of all varieties and color and techniques. Almost all 11-12 fish were caught on watermelon 7" senko or 12" worm. The bit was very subtle near the bank and it was almost as if they were just moving the bait away from the possible beds. We tried non soft plastic (spinners, top in the AM and PM, rattle traps) but due to grass hang ups and no action off the bank it made that fruitless. All in all a tough but fun day and still some good size was caught just wish we would have doubled our numbers (those reports from Spring 15 put super high expectations on the place!!). Total count 11-12 fish. 2 harvested, 7-8 weighed 3.4-3.9, 1- 4.7, 1- 6.7. I will be back to land 5 more than 5!
