The road to the lake was great. The old boat launch is fenced off, you need to go over the dam and through another gate to get to new launch area. Launching was difficult, but not horrible. You do need a push pole to launch, but we were able to get trailer very close to waters edge. Be careful where you step, not much difference between dry ground and thigh deep muck. Lake is about 4’ below overflow level. Old duck blind is high and dry. There is lots of vegetation in the water but nothing unusual for clymer this time of year. The edges and holes of the vegetation were very productive.
We caught about 30 fish, half in the 2 lb range and the other half dinks. Also caught a lot of bluegill on tiny topwaters. Fishing was not tough.
The roads, though regraded, are still black gumbo and will be very slick when wet. Driving and launching after a rain will be tough. It is worth fishing.

Thanks for the report. This lake has been a club favorite for those members who were willing to overlook the poor roads, difficult launch conditions and a lake chocked full of coontail moss. Moreover, the lake’s dam had to be re-worked this past year and is now repaired. When repairing the dam it was necessary to lower the lake by 50%. So the lake is about 1/2 full. All this said, many of our members want to fish this lake based on prior years success. I personally have caught dozens maybe hundreds of 4 to 6 lb fish in this lake over the past 8 years. We have purposely limited the trips to this lake, because of the poor conditions, not the poor fishing. We want to make sure we describe this lake accurately before you go. If you go, beaware this lake is difficult to fish and maybe impossible for some of our less physical members. The lake holds lots of quality fish if you have the desire to fight through its inperfections.
