Slot Fish
Fished two 1/2 days 9/25 and 9/26 with three friends as guests and potential club members. Fishing was a little tough as rain and an the approaching cool frount hampered fishing a little. Dark soft plastic baits and frogs fished over the pads at the north end of the lake seemed most productive. I did not see any gators this trip but Tom, the owner, states there’s a 9 footer running about. We cooked out on the grill and were entertained by the many deer visable at the deer feeding trough as usual. The cabin was comfortable even with the rain down pour Sat night.
I recommend this site for sure. It’s my favorite club site so far, but I have many more to visit.
Ah, what a life….

Bryan,
Love to see your group having a blast. Moreover, provided Bryan’s right hand was wet before he held this fish, this is the way we should all hold our big fish. Holding the fish by the jaw is a diaster wating to happen, especailly when you tilt the jaw downward putting the entire weight of the fish at the bend in the jaw.
I fished Lake Leon Tuesaday 9/28. Two of us caught 16 fish in the afternoon. Big Fish was 4.9 lbs. Most fish were under 2.5 lbs. The lake is very rust in color, making fishing more difficult. My guess is that the lake turned over causing the “dirty” water. It is not from rain fall, as there have been no major rains in several weeks. The exception to the water color is in the very north end of the lake. Consequently, we caught most of our fish in the upper 10% of the North end. The coon tail, and lily pads are thick, but this is nothing new to those of you who have fished Oakwood before. Remember this lake does have some really big fish. A 9 lber was cuaght 2 weeks ago and this big fish above was caught this week. Just have to spend time on the water.
