Fly fishing member Tom Blailock and I fished on Friday May 6 from about 9 AM to 4 PM. Conditions were bright sun and essentially no wind. We caught about 20-25 fish including bream, crappie, bass, and one 7 lb catfish that was fun to watch being caught on a fly rod. The largest bass was 3 lb. Since the water was high and the grass was flooded, we had fun throwing against the grass with top water lures which accounted for many of our fish. The catfish came up for a slow sinking bait as it moved away from the grass into deeper water. The water was a foot or 2 up over the main dock. We saw some fishing schooling in the afternoon. Water clarity was good.
The jon boat mentioned is really a semi-V. It does not leak but the transom is becoming difficult to hold a trolling motor.
