I fished Monday October 11th for a 1/2 day in the AM. I fished with Matt Williams an independent outdoor sports writer. We had a great time and brought much of the needed rain to this part of east Texas. This property probably got an inch or two of rain on Monday. The lake is about 2 feet low, allowing us to see much of the stucture that I was not able to see in Spring. Moreover, the coontail that had taken over the lake the last few years has been greatly reduced making the whole lake “fishable”. We caught 14 fish, 1 at 6.5 lbs, 1 over 5 lbs and 2 over 4 lbs. Fish came on rattletraps, texas rigs and chatter baits. The best rig was a chatterbait rigged with a Lake Fork Magic Shad trailer; which produced the 3 largest fish. No fish came on spooks, buzz baits, wacky Senkos or crankbaits. We harvest 9 fish under 16”. With a live well in the boat harvesting is very easy. You may simply leave the fish in the boat or take them with you. BUT, PLEASE HARVEST. If you leave them in the boat please call or e-mail the club office.
