John and I arrived ~ 7 am on a beautiful morning, The first thing i noticed was the water clarity, you could see 5-6 ft deep. We quickly launched the v-bottom boat and went to the left of the launch hitting the banks with buzzbaits. It didnt take long till John boated the first of about 40 fish we caught all day. We fished the shallow end for about an hour and a half using buzzbaits and I switched to a ribbet frog swimming it around and over the grass mats. We went around the perimeter of the lake rather quick the first time just to get an idea of what the lake was like picking up mostly 12-14 fish along the way. We switched to moving baits mid-morning, swimbaits, crankbaits ............... John finally hooked a ~4 lbers in the corner of the dam. Lots of grass around the edges so it was hard to fish plastics unless you were weightless, but it was not very productive. I caught a 2 lber fishing off the bank with a split shot rig and a Rage Craw. I did the best with the drop shot when it came to plastics, but again not much size,
The day before we left another member told me about the Chicken Rig and sent me the You Tube link. It looked interesting so i sent it to John and asked if he would make a couple for the trip. It is basically a whacky rigged kut tail worm weighted on the end so that it stands the worm up upright on the bottom, First cast John made with that he boated a nice 2 lber, but that was the only one. It was a steady slow day and the weather got a little warm at one point but not unbearable like it has been. John managed to find a very nice 6.5 lber along about 4pm on a beetle spin he rigged up. I would like to hit this one again in late fall or early spring and heavily armed with jerk baits.

Note that the club's v-bottom boat fished well but has a slow leak, apparently from a keel patch near the bow. Periodic bailing with a cup kept most of the gear dry. Not a big issue at this time.
