I was excited to see a new property in the Austin area (where I live), and jumped in to try it out.  I got there about 2:00pm and fished until 5:00pm.  It was hot, so nice to be fishing in a tube.  However, it's a big body of water, and took me a while to paddle all the way from the dock to the dam.  I fished all the way to the dam with a TX rigged worm, my old standby, and never got a bite until catching a dink on the dam.  I switched to a rattle trap and promptly caught a nice 3-pounder in open water, then a couple of 2-pounders on the way back to the dock.  The property is somewhat shallow, but not too shallow to hold some nice fish.  There are some submerged barbed-wire fences scattered around, so be careful.  A couple of the fish had scars on their bodies, and I'm assuming it was because of these fences, but don't know.  Also, something a little strange - I mouth-hooked all the fish, but they were bleeding out of their gills when I released them.  Anybody know what this is from?  Otherwise, the fish were healthy, it was an enjoyable afternoon, and it's really nice having a place less than an hour away from me now.  Thanks to the PWF team for getting this property!

Bryan. Thanks for the report. I am hoping to fish it the first week in October. Did you use the ramp?

Bill, I used my tube, so I don't remember much about the ramp.  I'm pretty sure you shouldn't have any problem launching your kayak.
