Mother Nature won the battle on Wednesday, 11/23 at Lake Side.  A fairly strong cold front moved through the area the night before.  We followed it in, getting a big lightning show in front of us during the wee hours of the morning.  When we arrived at the lake, it was totally calm, but that didn't last long.  A strong NW wind began to blow, and only increased as the day went along.  It was relentless, and only subsided as we loaded the boat about 5 pm, tired and beaten.  This lake is tough when the wind blows.  Water was very clear, and temps ranged from 59 to 61 degrees.  The lake is at least a foot low, maybe 2.

We tried all sorts of topwater baits, but got exactly zero hits on them.  We caught 7, including a 3-12 and a 4-10, and all 7 were over the 14 inch limit, and all were fat and healthy.  Other than 2 on a small white spinnerbait, the others were caught on dark colored T-rig worms (zoom trick worms).  The big brush pile south of the pier only produced 1 strike, and it was a missed hook up.  Most of our fish were caught around the pier.  We even tried crappie jigs in various colors around the pier (my Lowrance units showed many, many fish around it), but the crappie were not even biting.

All in all, a very tough day, but I really enjoy getting a full day with my youngest daughter.
