Fished 9G this afternoon from noon to dusk. Air temp 43 degf (may have got up to 50), light N wind, overcast. Fish from a self-propelled kayak and just bought myself some new kayak boots and "splash pants" - glad I had them as got cold late on. Water temp was 48 degf, water a little stained, tank is about 2' low. Wasn't sure what to expect after the weekend's warm front and then last night's cold temp, but ended up being a good trip. Caught 11 in total, best 4 lb 8 oz, most of the rest all right at 3lb, just one dink. All the fish were fat and healthy. Caught the first 4 on carolina rig in the deep channel over by the dam outflow. After that slowed caught 4 on free-lined senkos (fished really slow) in 8' of water along the N bank. Lake then went dead at 2:30, not another bite for 2 hours - then caught a final 3 on lipless crankbaits along the dam between 4:30 and dusk. A fun trip

Pete,

What type of "self-propelled kayak" do you fish from?

Fish from a Hobie Mirage Outback - am a big fan. Got mine as a 20th anniversary present; she got a ring, I got a kayak - I won! Great for club waters as well as bigger stretches of water (used mine extensively in the Gulf and bays of N Florida). Have added small outriggers to mine (hobie calls them side kicks), also rigged with electronics.

Sounds like a great setup. A buddy took me fishing in his kayak once. That's not for me.
