Bryan,
Glad you enjoyed Yates place last week, and you will not be disappointed in San Saba. San Saba has been a top lake in the club for 10+ years. This lake has produced more fish over 8 lbs than any lake in the club. You should get lots of responses to your question.
For me, the lake is magical; the experience is just as great as the fishing. I love the anticipation of driving there, the remoteness of the property, the deer cabin with the 300 year old live oaks, and those trophy bass. I probably have personally seen or caught more than 50, 7 lb fish or larger in my 20 plus trips to the lake. If you have cloud cover the top water frog or buzz bait bite is tough to beat. I have not had as much luck with Zara spooks or Pop R

I had good luck using a 4inch bass assassin. The best colors were watermelon and baby bass.
