Had a good morning fishing with friend Gary Whisenhunt on 2/11 at Brushy Creek.  Pulled into the property and there was a big tom turkey just staring at us not more than 30 yards from the truck.  Got him to strut and gobble a couple of times then we headed to the lake to see if the fish were interested in gobbling anything.  Fished a lot of water and a lot of lures and caught 13 on top water, swim baits, and spinner baits.  Most were in the 2-3 lb. range.  Best luck was with a black/white spinner bait up the channel.  I've fished here 3 times, and have yet to have much luck near the dam, or with my favorite bait, TX rigged power worms.  A few of the bass today had interesting black splotches, or spots on them (see pictures).  We looked it up and it's called hyperpigmented melanosis.  Basically, they're perfectly healthy bass with black spots on them.  Go figure.
