Member Brian Burks and I wanted to fish a trophy lake during the March full moon. Since most of our favorites were booked, we took the only open day at Caresend Lake. As luck would have it, the day included a cold front. We got started around 9 after waiting out the storms. The first fish catch was a 7-14 at 9:10. We had a decent morning bite mostly on a spinnerbait.
Around noon the sky cleared and the north wind really picked up. The mid day stretch was slow, picking up one fish about every 30-45 minutes. Around 4 the wind began to lay and the bite picked up. I began getting some steady action by slowly working a chatterbait along the bottom. At 5 I caught my biggest bass ever, 10 pounds even. We even weighed her twice to be sure.
All total we had 23 bass with only 1 under the 16" slot. Our biggest 5 weighed around 38 pounds. In addition to the 10 and the 7-14, we had a 7-4, 6-11 and 6-4.
