Wife and I arrived at Martins Mill - Lake Side on Friday afternoon 03/17 and man was the wind howling.  As others have stated, Lake Side is exposed and the South wind was relentless all day until 7PM.  In fact, we didn't even try to get out in the small jon boat until 7PM since we had the cabin and the lake through Saturday.  Fishing - overall low on quantity but high on quality.  My wife landed 8 all of them 2lbs to 3lbs 9oz.  I only landed 4, but they went 3-2, 4-5, 5-2 and a 5-10.  We culled 0 under the slot.  Mostly on soft plastic swimbaits except for the 5-10 which was on a Pop-R on my lightest spinning outfit which was a blast - and thankfully the brute headed towards deeper water instead of into the weeds.  Water was clear on the upper end and stained on the lower end as the Southerly wind was pushing towards the dam.  A big thank you to the owner and to PWF for providing such a nice place - the cabin is tasteful, comfortable and makes for a very nice getaway.

Mark, are the lily pads and grass thick on the surface yet?

Thanks,

Tom

Hi Tom - no, back on March 17/18, the pads and grass had not surfaced much at all.  You could see a lot of the pad stems and a few silver dollar sized pads, but that's it.  We did deal with what I'd call snot grass on the lure on almost every cast.
