My wife and I fished 12:30 to 7:30pm with a one hour break. Bluebird skies with a gusty breeze from the south, Air tem 70 - 80. Overall nice day. But fishing was terrible. We tried our most dependable baits - pumpkinseed Senkos, Super Flukes, Magnum Flukes and spinnerbaits. Then tried 10" Berkley Red Shad worms, shallow crankbaits, deep diving crankbaits, chatterbaits - nothing. Towards sundown we tried 2 colors of buzzbaits and my favorite topwater - Pompadour Junior - fast retrieve and slow - still nothing. My wife had two Bluegill taps - I didn't even have that. LOL We worked the marked brush piles thoroughly - nobody interested.
Two highlights - two beautiful geese "own" the lake - quite noisy, and saw a huge owl fly into the woods. Secondly, while retrieving a snagged lure near the shore, we spooked a big fish that broke the surface. Then a second later and 6 feet away, it jumped again clean out of the water!
It wasn't the day we expected but we enjoyed getting out on the water together.
