Fingerling
The wind was blowing pretty good Thursday afternoon at Black Hat, making the already off-color water even murkier. Tried the brush piles, areators, and boat house with no luck. The most prominent cover in the lake right now is visable standing grass ringing almost all the lake. Decided to give that a try and found the fish, mostly 1-2 lbs holding in the grass, in 1 to 2 feet. Caught about 10 and lost several others. Most effective lure in the grass was a chartreuse and white spinnerbait . Tried soft plastics and rattletraps in deeper water, hoping to find bigger fish but never got a bite. No sign of lilypads yet, which used to be abundant in the shallow end. As per other member's reports, there are big fish in this lake. I just haven't found them yet. Maybe next time!
