Fished Bennett Lake on the 16Th from noon till dark.  Water was super clear and water was down about 3-4 feet.  It was tough fishing up until 4 o’clock with only catching 4 bass all out of brush piles on a scrounger head with a tiny fluke.  I found the main creek channel at 4 and found the shad in huge balls, an the bass. I ended up catching 16 bass. Kept 12 within the slot, 2 under the slot and threw back 2 bass that would of went 4-5 LBS.  It was a blast and could of caught allot more if I would of found the channel earlier.

I love your post for several reasons. One, I was afraid most of the 10,000 shad that were put in the lake in July had be eaten. The lake is having trouble holding a bloom and the bloom is what feeds the shad and keeps the water stained; making a bit harder for the bass to completely eradicate the food source. We want the shad to be eaten, but have the density to survive, spawn, and continue to reproduce. Two, you had enough patience to stick with it, until the fish turned on, three, you figured out where the fish were. Four, you figured out what to throw to catch the fish. Five, you took the extra few minutes to HARVESTED Fish. And, lastly, you took time to post your day on our web-site.
Thank you! Thank you!

Thank you, I’m not sure if the shad spawned or what size you released but I snagged several and they were about 4” in length, also saw smaller shad busting the water and running from the bass.  I saw three huge balls of shad.  Also the bass I kept and cleaned had eggs in them, some were barley developed but the largest I kept right at 16” looked pretty far along.  Every fish I caught were really healthy and were fat as can be, full of shad and bream. Going back this week since we have some more warm weather.
