Just recently joined PWF this summer and got a chance this afternoon to try out one of the lakes. Since I had the day off from work, I had originally hoped to fish from early afternoon until dark. I got tied up in Dallas running errands and got out to the property later than expected so I was only able to fish the 3 hours heading into dark.
I thought it was a beautiful property. Loved the layout of the lake with its vegetation and lily pads. I spent my first hour on the water trying to get the fish interested in a frog. I couldn't get a bite on the frog and then tried a chatterbait followed by a baby brush hog. I got a couple of subtle bites on the brush hog but they dropped the bait almost immediately.
With about an hour and 45 minutes of fishing light left, I decided to tie on a 1/4 ounce shad colored popper in hopes of getting some strikes. In my first 6 casts with the small popper, I landed 4 bass. I ended up catching 10 bass and 1 perch. My best 3 bass went 5 lbs, 4 lbs, and 3.63 lbs. All of my fish were caught on the upper end of the lake completely away from the dam. The closer I got to the edge of the lily pads the more strikes I seemed to get.
All in all, I had fun but the time went by way too fast. Look forward to trying this property again down the road when I have more time to fish it.
Pic below is of the 5 pounder.
