I fished Bridle Oaks on 8/24/17. Due to work I didn't get to the property until around 5pm. The wind and an incoming storm made me come in around 7pm. The property is beautiful. The lake was full and water is clear. There are a lot of fish! I caught around 25 fish in the two hour period. I missed several and had several throw the hook. It was a bite a cast for chunks of my trip. I found the scouting report on the lake helpful. There is a lot of aquatic vegetation. It's easy to fish around the grass and throw topwaters or plastics in the clear spots. I was in a Kayak so didn't have to deal with a trolling motor. I caught several on a ribbit frog, one or two on a buzzbait but the most productive bait by far was a Texas rig Senko (watermelon and cream) dipped in Chartreuse garlic (thanks Phillip Pruett for the tip seen in his report from Lake Esconado). Dam and east bank were most productive areas.
I think this lake is shaping up to be a great lake if you want to catch alot of fish. I plan on bringing my kids out here. The fish were 1 to 3 pounds. I removed 5 that were under 14 inches. The land owner came by and said hello. He's a very friend and nice older gentleman. I'm excited to have this option to fish so close to Austin!
