We fished Mt. Pleasant, Lake Elizabeth: Broseco Ranch on Friday, Sep 1st under partly cloudy, mostly calm, warm conditions.  This was our first trip to Broseco and had high expectations - but as fishing goes - there are banner days and slower days.  This was a slower day on the catching end - maybe I should have known since it was rated "Poor" on BassForecast.  Nevertheless, this is a premium property that we are privileged to have access to and will visit again in the future.  We landed 8 bass - 4 of them were dinks and 4 of them were between 2lbs 5oz and 2lbs 15oz.  The bass here are healthy, super-chunky, well-fed and mostly related to the feeders and the subsequent bait-balls.  The ranch is something and seeing all the deer was a cool diversion.  One word of warning - I donated two lures to the artificial habitat - even on braided line.

Hey Mark, how far off the bank were you when you were fishing those artificial structures?   I found out the hard way that they are a lot further from shore than you would expect.   I found one with the trolling motor when I was leaving an area…  turns out I was actually on top of the structure with the boat.  Once I moved out away from the shoreline the bite picked up tenfold.   That being said I did get humbled there a couple trips back when I thought I had it all figured out.

Hey Shayne - yeah, the whole time we were fishing, I was thinking, "Man, I'm no Shayne Wallace!'.  LOL.  Agreed, we found the artificial structures to be offshore from the markers (can't say particularly how far).  Maybe, we should have focused our presentations out a little further offshore from the artificial habitat.  I'm glad to hear that you "got humbled" on at least one of your trips out there - I don't feel so bad!

Mark

P.S. Thank you for your continued contributions to the Fishing Reports board.

I think i fished to close to bank also. Me and my brother going next sunday to give them another try well definitely focus fishing little deeper. We caught about 15 last time about a month ago but had to work at it. My best baits were crankbaits banging them off structure but very little on texas rig plastics. Curious as to what plastics yall were using. My stand bys werent doing tje trick for some reason

Hey Jay, I've had good luck on Texas rigged soft plastics. Rage Lobsters (green pumpkin, watermelon red, and even okechobee craw), Zoom magnum lizards(gooseberry and blueberry), and Zoom magnum Speed worms(the ones with the C notch in the tail in June bug and June bug red).  My son did pretty good on an underspin. And I always have a 1 ounce chrome rattle trap just in case I catch some schooling action close.   The only "trick" I've found out on the Texas rigged stuff is I don't "bounce" it off the bottom.  I will just SLOWLY drag it on bottom and once I feel the structure slow down even more my son will even change from a T-rig to a shakeyhead set up as well.  It's a lot like watching paint dry until you feel that thump. Haha!   Good luck!   I'm gonna try to go next Friday or Saturday somewhere myself.
