Fished Yates Place all day on Monday, 2 October, with a guest. We found it pretty tough, boating only 12 fish all day with the largest weighing only 3-08. Most were caught on a black/blue flake, weightless, wacky-rigged Senko and a purple buzz bait. Several dinks hit a chrome/black back Rattletrap. We threw pretty much everything in our boxes, but to no avail. As always, Dewayne and Kay were great!

Fishing is slow this time of year. One of the toughest times of the year to catch fish consistently. The fish are transitioning from Summer to Fall. Likely fishing will improve in mid October through November.

In 2015, this is the same 2-week period during which I caught five bass over 8 lbs from Yates Place. What's different this year - more fishermen, maybe? It has me stumped.

In 2015 we had several fronts in late September and early October. There wasn't any rain but the fronts had cooler temps and north winds. I was spending every weekend on Caddo preparing for a regional championship. On hot days they wouldn't bite. When the fronts came in it would get better. That's the difference compared to this year. It's just been hot.

Tom,

The lake has been fished 4 less trips this year than this time in 2016 and 2015. Ironically, we fished the same number of trips to date in 2015 and 2016 and four less trips in 2017. Not a big difference, but likely not fishing pressure.  Some trips and some years are just slower than others. Plus, you had one heck a run last year. This year has been much tougher for you. Kind of like life: peaks and valleys. Valleys help us appreciate the peaks! It will turn around for you.
