Fished Hill Country Ranch on 17 Jan 2011 in the morning.  The water temp was 45 and the air temp started at 40 and rose to 50 by noon.  The water was very stained.

I caught one, 2 lb, around 10 AM using a weighted (1/4 oz) soft plastic jerk bait (green with red flake) pulling it thru isolated cover.  I also caught one undersized (6 inches) using a medium running crank bait (blue/chart) on the outside edge of a grass bed.

When I was about to leave, I found several packs of bass suspending 12-20 ft in 30 ft of water on the bank opposite from the boat launch.  Time ran out before I could really fish this area.

Bill,

Thanks for posting. Have you tried the smaller 2-3 acre lake behind the big lake? It has an incredible bluegill population. My guess that this lake should have a healthy bass population.
