Fished Black Hat yesterday afternoon (Jan 9th) from noon to 5:00. Weather forecast said the sun would come out in the afternoon, and it would warm up a bit - instead it stayed foggy / cloudy with the temp in the 40's and a steady north breeze, water temp was 44 degf, 3 foot water clarity, lake is full (going over the outflow). Moved around the lake a lot in the kayak to keep warm…. First time at this site, looks like a great spot. Caught 10, largest 4lb with the rest all 1-2, also foul hooked a monster shad! Caught all the fish around the islands in 2-5' of water on rattle traps or a weightless senko. Tried all over the lake with the rattle trap, but the top end was the only spot I got a bite. Could see lots of fish stacked up in the deeper water at the north end of the dam, but couldn't get a bite on deep crank bait, rattle trap, drop shot, TX rig…. Also tried drop shot on all the brush piles with no takers. Says a lot for the quality of the waters in the club that could get steady action on a cold winter's day. Was great to be outside for the afternoon, will return when it's a little warmer
