Had a blast fishing all day with my buddy on Sunday 1/28. Weather was in the 30s in the morning but slowly warmed up to 65. Sky was clear and wind was 5 mph or less throughout the day. The water was crystal clear.

We casted catfish rigs with stink bait off the peninsula near the dam when we arrived. We instantly landed a catfish and landed 6 total for the day. We hopped in the Predator 103 between stink bait casts and fished around the whole lake.

We caught a total of 10 bass throughout the day. Most were caught near the shores or in the shallow by the islands. All of our luck was with a 1/2 oz silver spoon and 1/2 oz Cotton Cordell crankbaits. I like the Cotton Cordell’s because they seem to oscillate really hard in the water compared to an original rat-l-trap. We didn’t have much luck drop shotting and Texas rigging various worms and creature baits in the deeper parts or near the dam. My buddy did get a couple bites near the shore on a Texas rig crawdad. Biggest bass was probably about 2 lbs.

We really wanted to land some crappie since they can be harvested but didn’t have much luck. Early in the day we clearly spotted a crappie chasing a rat-l-trap near the dam but the retrieve seemed to fast. Later on we came up on a school of crappie between the islands but they took off. We tried jigging various crappie jigs near the damn and marked brush piles but didn’t have success.

Love this lake cause I usually get to take some catfish home and I always catch some bass. I appreciate the owner making the boat available to members. I actually plan to buy the same model now.
